Commemorating World Malaria Day 2010

World Malaria Day commemorates the global effort to control and eradicate malaria. Occurring on April 25 each year, it provides an opportunity for advocates to raise awareness and generate support for the fight against malaria. This year, ExxonMobil is participating in a number of activities on World Malaria Day in order to highlight the progress our partners have already made fighting this disease and to recruit more champions for these efforts.

Idol Gives Back
ExxonMobil is again supporting American Idol's "Idol Gives Back." This year, our company hosted Idol finalist Elliott Yamin and Idol judge Kara DioGuardi on a trip to Angola. While in Angola, the Idol stars were able to see the benefits "Idol Gives Back" had for the local people and communities. Kara and Elliott also visited an orphanage and distributed bed nets and school supplies to children during their trip.

Washington Nationals Baseball Game
To increase awareness about malaria in the Washington, D.C., area, ExxonMobil is working with its partner, the Washington Nationals baseball team, to honor World Malaria Day at a game on April 24. American Idol finalist Elliott Yamin will sing the national anthem, and fans at the game will receive information on malaria and its impact in Africa.

Activities in Africa
ExxonMobil will be participating in key activities across Africa to educate individuals, raise public awareness and help fight the spread of malaria in recognition of World Malaria Day. Working with partners in Africa, ExxonMobil representatives will help distribute life saving bed nets and distribute educational banners and posters to be put up in public places in Angola, Cameroon, Chad, Equatorial Guinea and Nigeria.
